Ah, February. The month of love. For some, this is a month of roses, teddy bears and bougie chocolate. For others, this is a month of single tears with ice cream, pajamas and Netflix and Chill: Solo Edition. Whichever category you fall under, it doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself or your partner with some glowing skin. Either way, let’s show some love leading up to the day and of course, Valentine’s Day itself.

Cupid and I have some goodies for you. *shoots arrow* 💘

#1 SET THE MOOD

Turn off your phone (or on Do Not Disturb). This time is for YOU! Instagram can wait. When was the last time you spent some time with yourself without any distractions? Give your mood some time to itself.

Put on a personalized playlist. Music, music, music. This is the easiest way to set the mood. Get your fave tunes on and your bound to be on a good one.

Grab some yum. Get some strawberries, some chocolate, whatever get’s you in the lovey-dovey feeling. Our taste buds matter, and it wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without chocolate and strawberries, right? Okurrrt.

#2 ROMANTICIZE YOUR BATH

Bath time! Honesty hour: I actually used to hate baths. Yikes. I know.

I’m not a fan of sitting in my own filth, so my own regime of taking a bath is a bit tedious (taking a shower first, cleaning my body to a T getting the dirt off that would otherwise float in the water, re-clean the bathtub of course because I’m paranoid lol, and THEN I can get in the tub for a bath). Is it extra? Yes. But you know this already. LOL!

Candles are essential. Like, who do you think you are taking a bath without a candle? Tuh! The shame. THEE SHAME!

Add some bath accessories. Bath salts, bath bombs, bubble soap, whatever gets things frothy and sudsy in there. On a normal day I use epsom salt, but since Valentine’s Day coming up so I used pink Himalayan salt. You’ll learn about the benefits of that in a bit, luvs. But darling, darling, oh darling…that’s only the beginning.

Add oil. It can be whatever oil you like. I personally love mixing it up from time to time, but I mainly rotate between almond oil and olive oil with an addition of some essential oil for aromatic purposes. For the sake of the season, I chose rose essential oil, which you can get online, or any health foods store.

#3 SCRUB A DUB, DUB…

Now you know exfoliating is my thing. It’s actually a new years resolution for fresh glowing skin. But did you know exfoliating doesn’t stop on your face? Your body needs some loving too! Here is my fave three ingredient DIY scrub at the moment!

🌹 PINK ROSE SALT SCRUB RECIPE 🌹

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • 2 cups of Himalayan Pink Salt
  • 1 cup of Olive Oil
  • 10-15 drops of Rose Essential Oil — my preference, but vary drops to desired aroma
  1. Mix these ingredients in a bowl with a fork or spoon.
  2. Transfer to a glass jar and you’re done! Use this in the shower or bath on your bawwwwwdy.

This is a multipurpose scrub that not only keeps your skin, knees and elbows smooth, but your feet too! Also did I mention that you can also use this as a lip scrub? Yes, sweetums. Yes, you can.

Bonus: it’s pink and you’ll smell like roses. What a time to be pampered and practice self-love in the season of love.

Body Salt Scrub — Do this 2-3x/week.

Lip Scrub — Do this every other day.

Foot Scrub — At least 2x/week

“What does this actually do for my skin?”

Benefits of Pink Himalayan Salt: It's loaded with minerals like magnesium, which is super good for your skin. Regulates blood sugar levels, and promotes a healthy pH balance for your skin cells. The list of benefits are endless, but the most vain benefit of all the land? IT'S PINK! YASSSSSSSS!
Benefits of Olive Oil: Other than being extremely accessible, olive oil is extremely moisturizing. This Mediterranean household staple isn't only lovely to eat, when used topically, it can act as an anti-aging agent due to it's antioxidants and vitamin content. This article gives some more insight into the wonder ingredient.
Benefits of Rose Essential Oil: Roses are hands down the symbol of love in February. Why not relish in some roses for Valentine's Day? Rose oil is great for hydrating the skin, clearing up acne and it's also an aphrodisiac (wink-wink). Elle said it best on this being a must-have in your beauty regimen.

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone. Whether you’re single or taken, I wish you love and prosperity. Although this is just one day, let’s remember that self-love is an everyday ritual. I hope this post will inspire you to do more for yourself and/or your partner this season and all year-round.

Happy loving!

Evie xoxo
