Winter have your lips dry? Welp! Spring is here and the sunshine will EXPOSE every sign of crack, ash and flakiness on thy mouth. We don’t want that for spring and summer. We want juicy and glistening lips this spring and summer.

PERIOD! Bottom line. That’s just how the cookie crumbles. πŸͺ *bites into cookie*

So, join me on this adventure to your softest lips ever beyond the clichΓ© tip of “drink your water” (which is an essential already, duh). Muah! πŸ’‹

#1 Brush Your Teeth and…

Brush. Your. Lips.

Yep. I said it. Not DO NOT go overboard and grab the hardest brush you can find. No lips shall be harmed in this process.

Every time I brush my teeth, at the end of it I gently brush my lips and lipline to exfoliate a bit for 30 seconds. Now it’s already the standard to use a soft bristle brush for teeth, so I can only attest for brushing my lips with a SOFT bristle toothbrush.

Not an edge brush. Not a hair brush. A soft bristle toothbrush will do.

This will exfoliate your lips and prep them for lip balm. But if you’re like me, you like to take it a bit further…

#2 Lip Scrubs are Your Bestie

I love a good lip scrub. Making one is even simpler. I have a recipe from a past post that is bomb for lips! You can swap out the salt for sugar if you want but I love the benefits of the particular salt in that recipe.

#3 Put Eye Cream on Your Pout

I know, I know, I know… This is definitely a peculiar tip. But did you know that the skin around your eyes is extremely delicate? That’s why they make creams specially formulated to hydrate and absorb quickly into the skin in that area for collagen production and anti-aging.

Here’s another fact, those skin on your lips is extremely delicate too. So for me, in my morning and night time routines, I add a dab of eye cream on my lips before any lip balm and/or makeup.

#4 Kisses need SPF Too

As much as we put sunscreen on daily (Because you do that right? Great. You don’t? Yikes. Here’s why you should.) we cannot ignore our lips!

With the temperatures rising and as the days get longer (yippee!) we have to be equipped for greatness. The sun can dry out our lips and the last thing we want over time is fine lines around our pout and/or on our pout.

Not I, sis. Not I.

Look for sunscreen in the ingredients in your lip balms. I also use my face moisturizer on lips for most days. It’s nice to double up. Speaking of ingredients…

#5 Be Picky about Your Ingredients

The ingredients in your lip products can be a reason why your lips are dryer than a saltwater crocodile in the Florida Keys. Let’s not be lizards this summer, yeah? Thank you very much, sweetums. If you are prone to having irritated lips, this is for you. Next time you buy some lip balm, peep the label.

#6 Licking Ya Lips is a No-No

Just don’t do it if your lips are ashy. Just put some lip balm on. Easy-peasy.

That’s all folks. Remember, this is what I do to keep my lips plush and kissable. Let’s banish dry, crusty lips once and for all. Thank you for reading, and happy kissing. May your duck lip selfies be the best in all of the land.

Until next time,

Evie xoxo
